Pastor Freddy Cortez

Pastor Freddy Cortez

Alfredo I. Cortez, Jr., D.Min. (“Freddy”) serves as Pastor-Teacher of National Capital Bible Church, a Bible-teaching ministry devoted to verse-by-verse exposition of Scripture from the original languages, emphasizing doctrinal clarity, Free Grace–centered theology, and practical spiritual growth.

Freddy has served in pastoral ministry since 1990 and founded Hope Bible Institute (HBI) in 2004 to provide free seminary-level biblical training for pastors, church leaders, and serious students of Scripture. Through HBI, the Lord opened doors for international training in the Philippines and Cameroon, including theological instruction for pastors and structured Bible courses within a women’s correctional facility, where many were encouraged toward spiritual transformation through consistent exposure to Bible doctrine.

Following a life-threatening medical emergency in 2018, Freddy experienced significant recovery by God’s grace. During this season, the international ministry of Hope Bible Institute concluded, yet his commitment to teaching God’s Word continues through faithful pastoral ministry and ongoing Bible instruction.

Freddy deeply loves his bride, Corine, and is grateful for her faithful encouragement. He is proud of her devoted service to our country as a Lieutenant in the United States Coast Guard. He is also thankful for his two daughters and one son, whom he loves dearly, and for the faithful congregation the Lord has entrusted to his care—a church family he deeply loves and gives thanks for daily, and whom he counts it a great joy and privilege to serve.

His desire is to help believers become steadfast in the Word and confident in the truths of Scripture, and he remains deeply thankful for the faithful support, love, and hunger for God’s Word demonstrated by the congregation of National Capital Bible Church.
